The Association for Manitoba Archives Fund was established under the Manitoba Heritage Trust Program (MHTP). It represents an investment in the long-term sustainable delivery of the support, training, advisory services, and advocacy work that the AMA provides to archivists, archives, and all those interested in the preservation and accessibility of Manitoba's documentary heritage. Any dividends generated by the endowment fund will be used directly to support AMA members. The Winnipeg Foundation, which administers the MHTP for the provincial government, will issue a tax receipt for all donations. Donations may be made here.
Volunteering with the AMA is a great opportunity to network with other archivists and others working in the cultural heritage and information sector. It also gives AMA members a chance to develop skills, build their CVs, give back to the archival community and contribute to a number of AMA initiatives.
Join a committee
The AMA's various committees are always looking for volunteers to work on different initiatives and projects. If you are interested in volunteering for a specific committee, contact the committee's chair to find out more. Not sure which committee to join? You can contact the committees to find out more about the services they provide and what opportunities they have for volunteers. Contact information for individual committees can be found here.
Chair a committee
Committee chairs are required to attend monthly or semi-monthly board meetings from September to June every year. Committee chairs must be voted in by the membership at the AMA's Annual General Meeting which takes place in the fall. Elected board members serve a two year term and may resubmit their candidacy after the end of their term if desired.
To inquire about vacancies on the board and/or put forward your candidacy, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Support an AMA event
The AMA is often looking for volunteers to help with events, such as the Manitoba Day Awards. If you are interested in helping plan or facilitate an event, or would like to help set-up the event itself (e.g., direct people to the event space, set-up chairs, etc.), contact email@example.com. to inquire about upcoming events that may require support.
