What the Advocacy, Information and Outreach Committee does:

  • Advises and advocates on issues of concern to archives and archivists in Manitoba
  • Identifies and develops activities required to enhance awareness of archives in Manitoba
  • Promotes a better understanding and increased public awareness of the role and uses of archives
  • Drafts news releases and other forms of communications as needed

Advocacy and Campaigns

The Committee has been involved in major advocacy campaigns, such as:

    • Advocating for a new facility for the City of Winnipeg Archives. For more information, please see:

        • Supporting the University of Manitoba/University of Winnipeg Joint Master’s Program in Archival Studies.


          Resources

          Both the Association of Canadian Archivists and the Canadian Council of Archives have been strong advocates for the archival community at a national level.  Examples of advocacy work and tools to assist archives in advocacy and public relations are available on their respective websites.  You can find those resources here.
