Description: A bi-monthly virtual meetup for Manitobans caring for archives and history of their community. We gather to share experiences, encourage each other, and discuss relevant issues. This meetup is facilitated by AMA Archies Advisor, Sarah Story.
Who: Lone arrangers, rural and northern heritage workers, and community volunteers working with collections, and archivists of small archives in need of a support network.
Why: Community archivists have valuable knowledge and experience to share. Whatever our role, training or background, we have found practical ways to tackle archival challenges. One archivists’ experience may help another facing a similar issue. For those working alone, a community to share ideas with and ask for advice is valuable. Let’s come together to exchange experiences, strategies, and tools—and support one another as archivists!
Structure: The first part of our meetup is an unstructured conversation for participants to make introductions, swap experiences, share event info, and ask questions. The rest of the session is a structured dialogue that focuses on a specific topic of relevance that is chosen in advance by the participants.
October Topic: Basic Preservation (for small archives on tight budgets!)
Where: Online/Google Meet (January, March, May, July, September, November)
When: Thursday, October 1st at 1pm CST.
Cost: Free and open to all AMA members*
Access Note: You will need a working computer, a camera and audio on your computer, and decent connectivity to join us.
