Trauma-informed approaches to archival work are increasingly discussed in the archival community, as is the acknowledgement that both archivists and archival researchers can be impacted by their work with archival records and within archival institutions. This participatory workshop will focus on healing-centred engagement, which builds upon trauma-informed approaches, in recognition of the dynamic relationships that exist within archives between archivists, records and researchers. A limited amount of rural travel subsidies to cover travel mileage for AMA members living outside of Winnipeg are available, please indicate on your registration form if you are interested and we will contact you. Lunch will be provided, please indicate on your registration form if you have any dietary requirements. The workshop will take place on the third floor of the building. There is elevator access, and an accessible bathroom on the same floor. Street parking is available, and there is also a parking lot (payment required) behind the building. There are bus stops within close proximity to the building. Workshop Facilitator: Vanessa Anakwudwabisayquay Cook (Peguis First Nation/Winnipeg) About Vanessa: From the Mikinaak (Turtle) and Doud Clans, Vanessa has aligned her heart and mind to work for The People. Vanessa is a ShkaabeKwe (Helper) in all circles of her life including as an Indigenous Sexual Health Facilitator, an Adult Educator for social change with Righting Relations and as a member of Red Tent which provides anti-oppression education. She has delivered thousands of workshops on decolonizing mental health, substance use and relationships. Vanessa is employed at Wa-say Healing Centre as a Cultural Support Provider. She prides herself on Indigenous education, graduating from Children of the Earth High School and obtaining a First Nation Counselling Degree (Brandon University.) Her highest education comes from Sundance/Fasting ceremonies, time spent in nature and with the very best teachers, the Elders, Medicine People and Family who grace her life. She is a Mother of two and an Aunty to many.
