Collections Care and Preventative Conservation for Archives - Webinar Series

This is a four-part webinar series that serves as an introduction to collections care and preventative conservation for Archives. The intended audience for these seminars is archival staff (or other members of the community) that are new to the field, or are new to a position that requires preservation planning. The webinar series will focus care for materials and objects that tend to be found in the archival collections.

Topics include: preservation issues in Archives; the composition of archival materials; how to plan and implement a preservation program; holdings maintenance, storage, access, and exhibits; and the Canadian Conservation Institute agents of deterioration

Learning objectives: Upon completion of this webinar series participants will have acquired knowledge of: the damaging effects of the most common agents of deterioration, basic deterioration problems of many organic and inorganic materials, preventive conservation measures, accessible and effective methods and equipment to reduce deterioration

Presenter: Jane Dalley is a British-trained archival conservator who has created and presented workshops provincially, nationally and internationally. She has worked at the former National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, privately in Quebec for the archives and libraries of several Universities and religious archives, as Chief Conservator of the Provincial Archives of Manitoba, and in delivering outreach programs for various provincial heritage organizations. She recently completed a BSc in Applied Disaster & Emergency Studies and is an amateur entomologist
