Information and Outreach Committee 

The Information and Outreach committee consists of the Chair and at least two other members

The Information & Outreach Committee is responsible for:

  • Advising the Board on issues of concern to archives and archivists in Manitoba
  • Advising the Board on all matters concerning the public awareness activities of the Association by monitoring existing programs, identifying and developing activities required to enhance the awareness of archives in the province, maintaining strong relationships with like-minded organizations, and providing information and support to members of the Association
  • Coordinating and organizing social events for the membership

What does this mean in terms of workload:

  • Promoting a better understanding and increased public awareness of the role and uses of archives, as well as the AMA and its activities, through:
  • Public programming and networking with the education sector
  • Annual presentation to the University of Manitoba Archival Studies program
  • Draft news releases and other forms of communication as needed
  • Liaise with like-minded organizations as necessary to promote the AMA and to coordinate shared projects or resources
  • Create displays, attend community events or present at appropriate venues about the AMA and its services as necessary
  • Fostering collegiality among AMA members by:
  • Organizing a pub night or similar social event once a year
  • Organizing a festive event
  • Administering the Manitoba Day Awards
