Education Committee

The Education Committee consists of the Chair and at least two other members.  

The Education Committee is responsible for:
  • Advising the Board on matters relating to the education policy of the Association, identifying areas in which education and training is needed and develop educational opportunities as required
  • What does this mean in terms of workload:
  • Develop and deliver educational opportunities - workshops, forums, seminars and related activities - as required by the Association, including:
    • Administer and organize any educational requirements of the AMA’s Provincial Heritage Agency (PHA) grant
    • Develop and deliver at least one workshop every year for members based on the educational survey 
    • Organize and deliver an institutional forum for members at least once every year
    • Collaborate with partners such as ARMA, the Association of Manitoba Museums and the Manitoba Libraries Association, including working with the Association for Manitoba Libraries on their annual conference as needed (serving on the planning committee and organizing archival sessions for the conference etc.)
    • Assess and identify training/educational needs by:
    • Conducting a survey at least once every other year (on even years) as part of the membership renewal process to assess members’ educational and professional development requirements
    • Consulting with members at the annual institutional forum 
    • Evaluating training directions identified by the Canadian Council of Archives
    • Collaborating with partners such as ARMA, the Association of Manitoba Museums and the Manitoba Libraries Association
